Jesus Falls the Second Time

Jesus falls the second time.

We adore thee, O Christ, and we praise thee:

Because by thine holy cross, thou hast redeemed the world.

He hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed. All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the Lord hath laid on him the iniquity of us all.(Isaiah 53: 4 – 6)

Kneel and Pause

He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth: he is brought as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is dumb, so he openeth not his mouth. And he was assigned a grave with the wicked, even though he had done no violence, neither had any deceit come from his mouth.(Isaiah 53: 7-9)

Let us pray. Lord Jesus Christ, thou didst share in our weaknesses and didst accept our guilt. Grant us the favour of rejoicing over our human weaknesses, so that in all we do, thy strength, dwelling in us, may be shown to all others.  Amen.
