Station 6

Veronica Wipes the Face of Jesus

THE SIXTH STATION

Veronica wipes the face of Jesus.

We adore thee, O Christ, and we praise thee:

Genuflect

Because by thine holy cross, thou hast redeemed the world.

Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, and fed thee? or thirsty, and gave thee drink? When saw we thee a stranger, and took thee in? or naked, and clothed thee? Or when saw we thee sick, or in prison, and came unto thee? And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.(St. Matthew 25: 37b-40)

Kneel and Pause

A faithful friend is a strong defence: he that hath found such an one hath found a treasure. Nothing doth countervail a faithful friend, and his excellency is invaluable. A faithful friend is the medicine of life; and they that fear the Lord shall find him. Whoso feareth the Lord shall direct his friendship aright: for as he is, so shall his neighbour be also.(Sirach 6: 14-17)

Let us pray. Almighty and ever-loving God, we feel thy love and understanding in the consolation and support we receive from one another. Give us, we beseech thee, the courage and dedication to sacrifice and suffer with those who are in need, the least of thy people. Amen.
